What is Hyaluronic Acid ?

Despite its harsh-sounding name, hyaluronic acid is not a caustic, harmful substance but a molecule that occurs naturally in the human body. It is one of the main components of the extra-cellular matrix within the skin.
This molecule has excellent water-holding capacity (it can retain 1,000 times its own weight in moisture) and helps to give the skin youthful plumpness and tone. So, it really plays an important role in “supporting” the skin and this is why we witness many changes as we age, when the level and quality of the hyaluronic acid in our body decreases. The skin loses its elasticity, becomes drier and less plump.
