What You Should Know About Hyaluronic Acid Filler Injections

BEFORE THE INJECTION

A consultation prior to your first treatment session is always required. Be sure to discuss your needs and expectations with your doctor. Let him or her know if you have already had any aesthetic treatments. Be totally open with any question you have and be honest with yourself about what you really want. Your doctor will be able to explain to you about the ART FILLER® products and recommended treatments. In the three days leading up to your injection appointment, make sure that you follow your doctor’s instructions carefully (for example: avoid taking aspirin, Vitamin C, Vitamin E…)

DURING THE SESSION

You must stop drinking coffee/tea a couple of hours before and after the injection session. Your doctor will give you your own personal record booklet with the list of the product(s) he or she has used during your session. Please make sure you keep this safely and bring it along with you on any future appointments.

AFTER THE INJECTION

Don’t apply makeup for 12 hours after the injection. Avoid touching or rubbing the treated area. Avoid exposure to extreme temperatures (sauna, hammam…) as well as prolonged exposure to the sun or UV rays for 2 weeks after the injection. Normal local reactions can occur after any injection (swelling, bruising, pain) and last for a couple of days. Contact your doctor if you have any questions.

WILL IT HURT?
To help manage any discomfort during the injection, the products in the ART FILLER® collection contain a local anaesthetic called lidocaine. Your practitioner will do everything possible to reduce any potential discomfort. Sensitive areas like the lips will be anaesthetised and in some cases your practitioner may also recommend that you apply an anaesthetic cream before the injection, to help reduce any sensation of discomfort.

HOW LONG DO THE RESULTS GENERALLY LAST?
Following a treatment session using one or more of the products from the ART FILLER® range, the results obtained will usually be visible over 12-18 months, depending on age, the quantity of the filler product injected, the area treated, the quality of the skin and your lifestyle.

VIGILANCE + UNDESIRABLE EFFECTS

Inflammatory reactions (redness, oedema, erythema) that may be combined with itching, and soreness when pressed may occur after the injection. These reactions may last for up to a week. In a limited number of cases, 1,6% (1/61) of the subjects in the clinical study, slight pain, spontaneous or at palpation can last more than a week.

  • Bruising.
  • Change of colour or discolouring of skin in the injection area.
  • Hardening or nodules in the area of the injection.
  • Poor filling effectiveness or poor filling effect.

have been reported after injections of hyaluronic acid and/ or lidocaine.

These potential risks should be taken into account. The patient must inform the doctor as soon as possible if an inflammatory reaction persists for longer than one week or if any other side effects occur. The doctor will treat these appropriately.
